Washing Tips

I recommend eco-friendly products such as ECOVER, Bi-O-Kleen or Seventh Generation for the fitted diapers, especially the organic ones. Some regular detergents may be a little harsh so keep that in mind when deciding how much to use if you are going with regular detergents.

Wool is naturally water-proof if un-treated. Anything made out of wool should be washed with Eucalan wool wash instead of detergent. Otherwise it will slowly lose it's natural water-proof qualities. If this happens, you can make it water-proof again by using Eucalan which has natural lanolin as in natural un-treated wool.

Anything with microfleece, fleece or wind pro should not be washed with the natural eco- friendly products since they leave a residue on the fleece so that it is no longer water-proof. This is because of the fact that these eco-friendly products have some kind of fabric softener in them.

Too much detergent will effect the absorbency of the diaper and can cause leaks.

Do not use bleach on cloth diapers. Bleach is too harsh and will cause the fabric to prematurely wear and greatly reduce the life of your diaper. Oxiclean is also not recommended.

Do not use fabric softeners if your diapers are lined with microfleece! Fabric softeners coat the microfleece so that it won't keep your baby dry like it is supposed to.

Other than the above rules I do not recommend any particular method for washing diapers, but I would suggest you search for information regarding any laundry product before using it on your diapers/covers.
