Things to keep in mind when ordering fitted diapers:
All of the organic fabrics that I use are 100% certified organic cotton or hemp. Hemp is naturally organic
because it does not require pesticides in order to grow.
Absorbent layers: For the trimmest diaper choose 'Organic Cotton french Terry' for the absorbent layers!
For more absorbency and less trim choose 'Organic Cotton Fleece' or 'Organic Hemp Cotton Fleece'.
Inner and Outer Layers: Velours and fleeces (except microfleece) add to the absorbency of the diaper when
used as the outer layer or the inner layer. For the trimmest diaper choose a woven, knit or flannel print outer and microfleece
inner. For the most absorbent diaper choose any velour, organic cotton fleece or organic hemp cotton fleece for the outer and
inner of the diaper.
Sizing: Knit fabrics stretch so diapers made with knit fabrics on the outside run larger and last longer as the
baby grows. All soaker (hidden layers) fabrics and all inner fabrics are knits.

There are so many ways you can have an all organic fitted diaper custom
made...
For the outer layer, you can choose an organic cotton
print, plain organic cotton french terry, plain organic cotton fleece, plain organic hemp cotton fleece, plain organic
cotton velour or plain organic cotton sherpa. For the hidden absorbent layers in the middle, you can choose organic cotton
french terry, organic cotton fleece or organic hemp cotton fleece . For the inner layer next to baby's skin, you can choose plain
organic cotton french terry, plain organic cotton fleece, plain organic hemp cotton fleece, plain organic cotton velour or plain
organic cotton sherpa.
When you are choosing an outer layer, keep in mind that velour and sherpa are
the thickest fabrics and woven prints are the thinnest. When you are choosing the middle, absorbent layer, keep in mind the
organic cotton fleece and organic hemp cotton fleece are bulkier than the organic cotton french terry. The thicker the fabric,
the more absorbent the diaper, but also the more bulky and the longer it takes to dry.
Sun Seedlings Hand-Dyed Organic Fitted Diapers ~ $18.50
All my dyes are from the Dharma Trading Company. You can ask for the outer
layer of plain 'all organic' fitted diapers to be hand-dyed almost any color. Just ask for a color and I'll tell you if it's available.
The inner layer next to baby's skin is always natural un-dyed organic fabric for the 'all organic' diapers.
Sun Seedlings Fitted Diapers ~ $12.50 to $15.50
These can be made with an organic fabric on the inside, next to baby's skin,
even if the outer layer is a non-organic fabric or print.
For the outer layer of custom fitted diapers, you can choose a woven print,
knit print or
a flannel
print. You can also choose to have plain organic cotton french terry, plain organic hemp cotton fleece OR a
solid/printed cotton velour or a solid microfleece on the outside of the diaper. Microfleece is 100% polyester and cannot be
organic. If used on the outside of diapers, you still need a cover. But it helps keep moisture in a bit longer. The hidden absorbent
layers in the middle are always organic cotton french terry, organic cotton fleece or organic hemp cotton fleece. For the inner
layer next to baby's skin, you can choose a velour fabric, a microfleece fabric, plain organic cotton french terry, plain organic cotton fleece or plain organic
hemp cotton fleece.
About the fabrics:
Velour, organic cotton fleece and organic hemp cotton fleece on the outside
and/or inside add to the absorbency. Microfleece is not absorbent at all but wicks moisture away from baby for the stay-dry
effect. Velour and microfleece are much softer than organic cotton french terry, organic cotton fleece or organic hemp cotton
fleece but organic cotton french terry, organic cotton fleece or organic hemp cotton fleece are the more natural fibers. Organic
cotton french terry is a thinner fabric than the fleeces and is good for more trim fitted diapers. The velour is factory dyed
cotton and has a little bit of polyester on the under side (back) of the fabric and pure cotton on the top (right side) of the fabric.
Microfleece is 100% polyester. All the organic cotton fabrics are grown organically and made into fabric without the use of
harmful chemicals.
Diaper styles, soakers & closures:
Regular-dry style diapers have sewn-in soakers for convenience and quick-dry
style diapers have snap-in soakers for quicker drying.
Fitted diapers with tri-fold soakers are more absorbent and more bulky than
ones with contour soakers. Tri-fold soakers are for quick-dry diapers only. Contour soakers are for both quick-dry and regular-
dry diapers.
Closures: You can choose from side snap, front snap, side aplix (velcro) or
front aplix (velcro) for any Sun Seedlings fitted diaper.
Hand-painted diapers:
I occasionally hand-paint/draw designs on plain diapers or covers and put them
up as instock. I use
FabricMate fabric paint pens which never fade wash after wash. These diapers range from $14.00 to $20.00 depending on the
size of the art design.
Sun Seedlings PUL Diaper Covers ~ $9.50 to $12.00
PUL is Polyurethane Laminate which is waterproof material. Single layer PUL Covers
can be made with either a single layer of solid PUL or a single layer of printed
PUL. Two layer PUL covers are made with an organic
print, polyester
print, woven cotton print, knit cotton print, or flannel cotton
print on the outside and white PUL on the inside.
PUL covers can be either side snap or side aplix (velcro.) The edges are
finished with foldover elastic binding. These diaper covers hold pre-folds perfectly in place.
Microfleece lined PUL covers are $14.50. They are the same
as PUL covers but
with a layer of microfleece on the inside, and the leg openings are bound with the same microfleece. Microfleece lined PUL
covers are nice and soft against baby's skin compared with the PUL and fold over elastic binding in regular PUL covers. These
covers also hold pre-folds perfectly in place.
Hand-painted diapers:
I occasionally hand-paint/draw designs on plain diapers or covers and put them
up as instock. I
use FabricMate fabric paint pens which never fade wash after wash. The art work out lives the diaper. These covers range from
$14.00 to $20.00 depending on the size of the design.
Sun Seedlings Fleece Diaper Covers ~ $11.50 to $13.50
Fleece covers are made with two layers. The outer
fleece can be 200 wt., 300 wt. or windpro fleece. Windpro is the most waterproof and 200 wt. fleece is the
least. Most people prefer windpro over both 200 wt. and 300 wt. fleeces because it is much thinner, great for less bulky covers.
The inner layer is microfleece. The edges are serged just like Sun Seedlings fitted diapers and they can have either
side snaps or side aplix (velcro.)

PUL all-in-one diapers are diapers and covers in one. The body of the diaper is made
exactly like a microfleece-lined PUL cover, but with a snap setting in the back to hold the absorbent snap-in
soaker. You can choose to have plain fold-over elastic binding or microfleece around the leg openings.
The tri-fold snap-in soaker is made with two or three rectangular layers of any
absorbent material like organic cotton french terry or organic hemp cotton fleece, with an optional area of microfleece in the
middle facing baby's skin.
